Kieran Cox
Postdoctoral Fellow
Kieran is a Banting and Killam Postdoctoral Fellow with the FOME lab. His research uses species distribution modelling, vessel noise mapping, and policy analyses to support the conservation of ocean soundscapes. Kieran earned his PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Victoria. During his doctoral studies, he researched marine resource cultivation, coral reef ecology, and co-founded the FishSounds project. He was later awarded the Liber Ero and NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowships at Simon Fraser University, where he explored how the decline of kelp forests and increasing ocean noise levels affect marine species. Working on a broad range of research topics has enabled Kieran to explore interests in community ecology, big data, and public outreach, which he is eager to further develop at Dalhousie University.
