Geraldine Fernandez

Summer research student and Honours Student

I’m an undergraduate student finishing my Bachelor of Science with a major in Marine Biology and a minor in Statistics. I've been absolutely fascinated by the ocean from a very young age and have poured all my energy (and still am!) into becoming a shark biologist.

This summer, my time with the FOME Lab will focus on collecting data for a new method of shark monitoring using BRUVS with laser scaling, under the supervision of Dr. Derek Tittensor and Dr. Manuel Dureuil.

I'm especially interested in developing ethical methods for elasmobranch data collection and creating strategies to support and sustain global elasmobranch biodiversity!
