Georgie Healey

Honours Student

Georgie is an undergraduate student majoring in Marine Biology and minoring in Oceanography. Being raised in the Cayman Islands, she became passionate about protecting and aiding the recovery of the coral reefs from the highly lethal effects of Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease. This summer, with support from Dr. Derek Tittensor of the FOME Lab and Dr. Croy McCoy from Cayman’s Department of Environment, she will be researching the recruitment and recovery of stony corals at the island’s disease epicenter. Understanding coral recovery rates and associated factors will help provide direction for future coral reef management and restoration.
